The bark of a sequoia tree is kind of spongy. I jumped the fence to walk close up to touch the tree, and it felt like if I had pressed a little harder my hand would have left an imprint. (I didn't do that, but it felt like it could be easily done.) This is the photo that came from my fence hopping experience.
